And that is the irony of his life

And that is the irony of his life

He has achieved that any man could desire
Yet he sits alone
Smiling at the world from his dark cave

his eyes shine
looking for their lost gleam
he laughs heartily
but, oh, where is his heart?

gold, silver he can buy
yet in his dark cave, uneasy he lies

And that is the irony of his life

all that ever was, is his
yet in his sleep
darkness on his soul
slowly oh so slowly creeps.

lonely man
